A Look Inside a Mystery Trip
Have you been following us for a while now, waiting for the perfect moment to jump in and join us on one of our Mystery Trips? I know, handing over the control, and fully trusting that your perfect vacation awaits without you having to lift a finger probably feels a little too good to be true. You probably have 1000 questions about what your trip will be like, who you’re going with, what’s included, and what to expect day to day. This is completely normal. Some of our trippers tell me, “I don’t care what I do or where I go, I just want an amazing experience”. While others, who are avid planners, feel the challenge to sit back and relax and let me take care of it all.
Whichever person you may be, don’t worry. Even if you’re a planner, you can rest assured that your trip is planned, just not by you. You have somebody else worrying about the transportation, finding the best deal, what time you need to be at the airport, the budget, etc. Sounds great, right?

Before your trip
Great! You have just filled out your questionnaire and paid the deposit on our website. If you have never traveled with us before, you will receive a call from us to go over your questionnaire in more detail and to better understand your travel desires. It’s now time to submit your travel documents, and let us get going on finding you the best flight and destination! Once your group is decided, documents are in, and the flight is booked, you will be given some information about your destination so that you can start dreaming up the possibilities, preparing what you’ll need to pack, and your departure airport and time to arrive. This is my FAVORITE part of the entire process. I love seeing the guesses our trippers make, the interpretation of the clues, and seeing the group already bonding through this amazing feeling of the unknown. I have seen so many lifelong friendships come out of our Mystery Trips. It brings tears to my eyes to see how a group of random women who have never met are brave enough to show up at the airport, with no idea where they are going, and then fly home at the end as best friends. There is nothing like traveling to bring you immediately close to someone. From getting lost in the city to unstoppable belly laughter over dinner, by day 2 it’s as if you’ve known each other all along.
Of course, we also realize that by putting a group of random people together, it is possible that not everyone will want to do the exact same thing. That’s perfectly fine! In fact, it’s great! We leave a lot of flexibility in our trips, allowing you to break off into smaller groups or alone and make sure you get to do everything you want! Most of the time, people will break off into groups of 2 or 3 for the day, hit the shops, museums, beach, or theater, and then meet back up at night for dinner to recap the day and tell stories.
What’s included?
As a base, your trip includes your flight and hotel, and usually transportation from the airport if it is necessary in your destination. Depending on the destination, we sometimes add tours or activities, but for most places, we prefer to leave that up to you. We completely understand that while some people love museums, other people can’t think of a worse way to spend their day. We don’t want to force you to do anything, but we also aren’t going to make you pay for extra things you don’t want to do. With that said, you have the freedom to add tours and activities for the things you decide to do. This allows us to keep your base price low, and let you pick and choose what to add. However, we do have some trips in which we plan day trips to other towns, or guided tours depending on the destination. We have an AMAZING guide in Peru that takes care of everything for you.
Whatever the case may be, we will let you know what is included, as well as offer suggestions for things to do or add once you arrive at your destination. Remember, we’ve got you!
3, 2, 1… Take off!
Yay! The day has finally come. You have just arrived at the airport to meet the rest of the group. This is another part of the trip that I absolutely LOVE! It is so fun to see people who have been chatting in our group chat for months finally get to meet in person! You will connect by video call for the grand reveal! I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. This is THE MOST THRILLING PART! After you find out your destination, you’ll receive an email with all of the information you’ll need for your trip and your itinerary. Now go check in, grab a drink, and start looking at pictures of where you’re headed!
The arrival
We always book flights that have good connections and minimal travel time. But we get it, these flights can still feel so long. When you arrive, you're probably craving a hot shower and some good food. You head on out to the arrivals area and see your driver waiting for you with a sign. Ahhh, what a relief. No tracking down a taxi, looking up the train route, dragging your suitcase through the busy streets. Just straight to the car, and off to your hotel.
Time to explore!
There is nothing like the morning after arriving. You have slept like a rock in your comfy hotel bed with blackout curtains, and are ready to head out for the day exploring your now not so mysterious destination. After showering and getting ready, you head down to the hotel breakfast to meet with the other trippers and plan the day over a cup (or two) of coffee and a croissant. Like I said before, I like to leave you some freedom to decide how you want to spend your days. But if you’re unsure what to do, check out our suggestions list on your itinerary or chat with the hotel reception. From my experience, you’ll most likely have so many things you want to do and see that you don’t want to waste a second. Feeling more like wandering the streets and seeing what you find? Go for it!
Coming home
Well, the time has come to head home and get back to reality. We hope you feel refreshed and like a new person. I will warn you now though… Traveling is addictive. If you can’t fathom the idea of the trip coming to an end, don’t worry. We are ready to help sign you up for your next!
